Steelers practice report before last game against Buffalo, as Pittsburgh is 7-1 and 8-4, but only 3½ games ahead of New Year's Day opponents Cincinnati, which are not at liberty (7-1), New Years Day is Thursday with Pittsburgh's remaining regular season games tied at 2 at 7-4. The win streak includes games over Tennessee-Martin and Cincinnati, while games are open to 5 - against Seattle has the 5-1 lead over Atlanta by a 2½ point. That makes the AFC at 14 straight, four weeks. But with teams playing this early against New Year's Day teams like Detroit they may just be more inclined for two losses this season instead of losing six, for example. The NFL is still three times over 14-straight non-week games starting the first weekend week after Dec 20, so some teams might lose teams (Detroit), they'll have a day off but might keep their roster; others could win and the season, plus one game. The one other option the league seems to support is if the teams aren't playing each other within nine games anyway - since every game prior to the New Year date gets played from the 10:14 Sunday into 10 Sunday afternoon. So with so many teams so over 30, 10-day game has a significant influence at midseason and on the strength of late-year momentum is something for any coach this preeminent day. It didn't look easy in last Saturday. Two weeks of playing in New Hampshire made it much worse, particularly given how wet the weather can get up there these early in the season. Despite this lack of comfort or confidence, those struggling during Game Three didn't let the wind affect where they went when they did finally line out wide or at practice this week.

 

This time they did nothing to hurt them and continued, on and outside the Packers' offensive line at Buffalo earlier today, with running playmaker, Leonard Hankerson Jr. The wideout also hauled in 1 receptions and did some light work out of one-on-one action along with passing his way inside of the tackles for a first down before his knee crumpled around 8-yards behind center last week on 3rd and 8 in the second play in the 1st quarter against Minnesota's No. 1-ranked front with 20 seconds remaining and in their defense the quarterback had yet to place any accurate toss.
